Covid-19: Three new clusters identified, including Singapore Cricket Club, a bar at MBS

SINGAPORE — Three new clusters of Covid-19 here have been identified by the authorities: The Ce La Vi bar at Marina Bay Sands Hotel, the Singapore Cricket Club as well as a construction site in the Central Business District.

SINGAPORE — Three new clusters of Covid-19 here have been identified by the authorities: The Ce La Vi bar at Marina Bay Sands Hotel, the Singapore Cricket Club as well as a construction site in the Central Business District.  

In its daily update on the Covid-19 pandemic on Friday (April 3), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that further epidemiological investigations and contact tracing have uncovered links between previously announced and new cases here.

THE NEW CLUSTERS

MOH said that one newly confirmed case — Case 1094 — is linked to three previous cases (Cases 540, 807 and 856), forming a new cluster at Ce La Vi bar.

Another new case — Case 1052 — has been linked to five previous cases (Cases 384, 670, 728, 792 and 855), forming a new cluster at the Singapore Cricket Club located at the Padang.

One more new case — Case 1104 — has been linked to three previous cases (Cases 956, 967 and 1019), thus forming a new cluster at a construction site located at 50 Market Street in the Central Business District. Building works there are for Project Glory, a 51-storey mixed development for offices, retail and service apartments.

NEW CASES AND THEIR LINKS TO KNOWN CLUSTERS

MOH also identified more cases connected to previously known clusters of infections.

They are:

  • Eleven more cases are linked to the cluster at S11 Dormitory @ Punggol (2 Seletar North Link), which now has a total of 24 confirmed cases (Cases 826, 829, 852, 860, 946, 947, 966, 979, 982, 993, 1035, 1039, 1047, 1050, 1066, 1074, 1083, 1084, 1089, 1107, 1108, 1110, 1111 and 1112)
  • Eight more cases are linked to the cluster at Westlite Toh Guan dormitory near Jurong East (18 Toh Guan Road East), which now has a total of 18 confirmed cases (Cases 655, 875, 922, 924, 925, 926, 934, 977, 1011, 1012, 1054, 1062, 1068, 1072, 1100, 1101, 1106 and 1113)
  • Three more cases are linked to the cluster at Mustafa Centre in Little India (145 Syed Alwi Road), which now has a total of 14 cases (Cases 616, 788, 866, 908, 911, 938, 1001, 1015, 1024, 1026, 1046, 1056, 1093 and 1096)
  • One more case is linked to the cluster at a construction site at Maxwell MRT Station (50 Neil Road), which now has a total of six cases now (Cases 869, 900, 1000, 1009, 1034 and 1069)
  • One more case is linked to the cluster at Keppel Shipyard (51 Pioneer Sector 1), which now has a total of four cases now (Cases 878, 898, 907 and 1076)
  • One more case is linked to the cluster at Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home (1 Thomson Lane), which now has a total of 13 cases (Cases 918, 973, 976, 983, 984, 985, 986, 987, 988, 989, 990, 1004 and 1055)
  • One more case is linked to the cluster at Dover Court International School (301 Dover Road), which now has a total of nine confirmed cases (Cases 556, 618, 626, 662, 686, 713, 729, 761 and 1098)
  • One more case is linked to the cluster at Wilby Residences in Bukit Timah (25 Wilby Road), which now has a total of nine confirmed cases (Cases 439, 678, 793, 818, 848, 864, 873, 980 and 1075)
  • One more case is linked to the cluster at Hero’s bar in Boat Quay (69 Circular Road), which now has a total of nine confirmed cases (Cases 192, 556, 657, 670, 714, 813, 940, 1013 and 1097)

The ministry said that contact tracing is underway for 127 locally transmitted cases to establish any links to previous cases or travel history to affected countries or regions.

16 PEOPLE DISCHARGED

Associate Professor Kenneth Mak, director of medical services at MOH, said at a press briefing on Friday that there were 65 new cases of Covid-19.

Of these, nine were imported cases with travel history to Europe, North America, Middle East and countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Of the 65 cases, 40 have been linked to previous clusters or cases while 16 have no known links yet.

The health said that 282 people have been discharged from the hospitals or community isolation facilities so far, including 16 on Friday.

Among the confirmed cases, 473 are still in hospital and 25 are in critical condition under intensive care.

Five people have died from complications due to the disease, including an 86-year-old Singaporean woman early on Friday.
