SINGAPORE — The work pass of a work pass holder has been revoked by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for breaching the circuit breaker measures. The worker has also been permanently banned from working in Singapore, MOM said in a statement on Sunday (April 12).

The work pass holder, who works at a firm providing essential services, took his meal after finishing work on Thursday evening. He continued to loiter at various places for an extended period of time before returning to his place of residence the following day, MOM said.

“This is a blatant breach of circuit breaker measures,” MOM said in the statement.

Officers from several government agencies including MOM, the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources and the National Parks Board issued a total of 39 fines to work pass holders found in breach of circuit breaker measures between April 10 and April 12.

“These individuals were found to have gathered in groups, engaged in group exercise or participating in recreational activities like frisbee or football with persons who did not live in the same household,” MOM said.

The ministry added that it will not hesitate to revoke the work passes of these individuals as well as the passes of their dependants if they are found to be in breach of the circuit breaker measures for a second time.

“Employers and employees have a joint responsibility to abide by safe distancing rules during the circuit breaker,” MOM said.

“These rules are necessary for the health and safety of the individuals and the community. Ignorance of the requirements is not an excuse and MOM will not hesitate to enforce against errant individuals.

MOM urges members of the public who have any information on work pass holders or employers who are breaching circuit breaker measures to email the ministry.
