SINGAPORE — Flat-buyers continued to flock to the Build-To-Order (BTO) flats in Kallang launched on Tuesday, with the four-room units in the project seeing 675 applications for the 158 units available, or 4.3 applications per unit.

Second-time buyers dominated the demand, with 20.4 applications for every unit available to this group as of 5pm on Wednesday (Nov 23). Among first-time buyers, the application rate was 3.5.

Also oversubscribed were the four-room flats launched in Bidadari, with 1,349 applications for the 587 units available, or a subscription rate of 2.3. Again, demand was stronger among second-timers, with 7.9 applications for every one unit available to this group, compared to two among first-timers.

Overall, flats in mature estates are seeing more interest in the latest exercise, the last and biggest by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) for the year comprising 10,118 BTO and Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) units.

In Bedok, flats in two of the three projects launched in the area are also oversubscribed. Four-room flats in the Bedok South Horizon and Bedok Beacon projects saw 953 applications for the 757 units launched.

The five-room flats in the Bedok South Horizon project were also popular, with 280 applications for the 274 units launched.

In comparison, four-room flats launched in the three Punggol projects, totalling 753 units, remain undersubscribed with 518 applications, or an application rate of 0.7.

Overall, the three-room and bigger flats totalling 3,581 units, have drawn 4,455, or 1.2 applications for every unit available.

Demand for the two-room Flexi flats launched in Punggol, Bidadari and Bedok got off to a slower start, with 1,091 applications for the 1,529 units launched.

Application for flats can be submitted online via the HDB’s InfoWEB until Nov 28. The next exercise, in February next year, will see 4,100 BTO flats launched in Clementi, Punggol, Tampines and Woodlands.
