SINGAPORE — A Singapore employer’s kind act of buying her domestic helper concert tickets has gone viral and earned praise online.

For domestic worker Ms Nur, her dream of catching Suga of South Korean boy band BTS live was almost dashed due to the high ticket prices — until her employer came up with a surprise.

Suga is set to perform at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on June 17 and 18.

The employer, Ms Kimberlee Ang, shared on TikTok on Tuesday (April 4) that it was her helper’s dream to go to Suga’s concert.

However, after getting into the presale for the tickets, Ms Nur was deterred upon seeing the prices, which range from S$168 to S$348.

The presale required an ARMY, the fandom name for BTS, membership to enter, which meant that Ms Nur was probably a super fan.

Although the helper had decided not to proceed with buying the tickets, Ms Ang, who was helping Ms Nur access Ticketmaster, the website that was hosting the ticket sales, went ahead and bought the tickets for her helper of seven years.

Calling it a gift from her and her siblings, Ms Ang had gotten Ms Nur standing pen tickets, which netizens identified as “hard to get”.

“We hope she can get a closer view of Suga performing on stage,” Ms Ang said in the comments.

Upon finding out that she was given tickets to Suga’s concert, Ms Nur was filmed bursting into tears and crouching on the floor in jubilance.

She could be heard saying "Suga" and "I'm shaking".

Ms Ang explained in the video that she had a queue number of over 5,600 and was bounced out three times due to site errors.

Describing the whole process as nerve wrecking, Ms Ang said that she was “shaking and sweating” throughout while trying to buy the tickets.

Ms Nur is an ardent BTS fan. Her TikTok account, which was tagged in the captions, was filled with BTS fan edit videos and videos showing off her BTS merchandise.

Eagle-eyed netizens also spotted Ms Nur wearing Suga merchandise.

@kimberlee.ang This must be the most intense ticket purchasing for me. I dunno how quick #army can be! @pjm 🐣 Nur, hope you like your gift from us. Thank you for being with us for 7 years. Netizens celebrated the heartwarming story on TikTok, commending Ms Ang for her kind gesture towards her helper.

The video received 70,000 views and over 300 comments in one day.

One BTS fan said: “I couldn’t get a ticket after two hours of anxiety but if I lost it to her, then it’s worth it.”

People also pointed out how hard it is to get a ticket, emphasising the efforts Ms Ang went through to obtain it.

One comment read: “This is 100 times sweeter if you know how hard it is to get one. For you to do this for her, I know she will remember this forever.”

Another said: “One of a kind employer… She’s lucky to have you as an employer.”

Concluding the video, Ms Ang told Ms Nur: "Thank you for being with me and my family for seven years. Have fun and party hard!"
