SINGAPORE — A two-time convict, Ms Moon, 28, was able to turn her life around with the help of the Singapore Prison Service and the Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises (Score).
Ms Moon, whose name has been changed for privacy reasons, did not think she would get a job or a community that would accept her drug-related criminal past. However, after she landed a job at Nando’s Chickenland Singapore, Ms Moon found herself surrounded by supportive and encouraging colleagues at the restaurant.
In one year, she has been promoted from service crew member to “buddy” trainer. She hopes she will be able to become an assistant manager one day.
Ms Moon strongly believes that she will not go back to her past ways now that she has a job, co-workers who accept her, and a future to look forward to — she is also getting engaged next month.
