SINGAPORE — Family members and friends of the two Kovan murder victims bade their final farewell yesterday afternoon, with the two hearses making their way past Kaki Bukit Avenue 1, where Mr Tan Boon Sin ran a car workshop. Mr Tan, 67, was murdered at his Hillside Drive home last Wednesday, while the body of his son, Mr Tan Chee Heong, 42, was found 1km away outside Kovan MRT Station. The suspect, veteran police officer Iskandar Rahmat, was charged with the murders on Monday. Prayers for the victims began around noon at the Teochew Funeral Parlour in Ubi. They were cremated at the Mandai Crematorium. The distraught wife of Mr Tan Boon Sin left in another car, choosing not to follow behind the hearses. Before heading to Mandai Crematorium, the two hearses made their way to the workplace of the elder Mr Tan. The two hearses stayed briefly at Mr Tan’s car workshop in Kaki Bukit. Those who worked with him described him as a kind man and a good boss. “When the worker does something wrong, he won’t scold us,” said Mr Aw Fook Weng, an employee of Mr Tan. Another employee Tan Chai Chin, said: “He is reasonable. It is a pity for us that our boss is no longer around.” CHANNEL NEWSASIA
