SINGAPORE — The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested four suspected drug offenders and seized drugs worth more than S$288,000 on Monday (April 16).

The drugs include about 1.93kg of heroin, 1.03kg of cannabis and 870g of Methamphetamine, or widely known as “Ice”, the bureau said in a statement on Tuesday evening.

The suspects, three Singaporeans and one Malaysian, are between the ages of 23 and 58.

On Monday afternoon, CNB officers conducted observation on a suspected drug trafficker, a 23-year-old Singaporean man, in the vicinity of Eunos Crescent. He was subsequently spotted meeting another suspect, a 23-year-old Malaysian male.

The Singaporean male and his female companion, a 23-year-old suspected drug abuser, were later arrested in the vicinity of a carpark at Ubi Avenue 2. CNB officers found about 985g of heroin, 1,038g of cannabis and 192g of “Ice” in the vehicle they were travelling in.

During the arrest, the Singaporean male suspect put up a violent struggle and “necessary force” was used to subdue him, said the CNB. A “jackknife” — a large knife with a folding blade — was also found on the suspect.

Meanwhile, another group of CNB officers arrested the Malaysian suspect in the vicinity of the junction of Jalan Eunos and Changi Road. They seized about 466g of heroin, 678g of “Ice” and S$25,400 in cash from the Malaysian and his motorcycle.

A separate group of CNB officers also apprehended a suspected drug trafficker, a 58-year-old Singaporean male, who is believed to be associated with the Malaysian.

About 468g of heroin was recovered from a bag which the 58-year-old was carrying in the vicinity of Block 10 North Bridge Road. Some 12g of heroin was also recovered from the elderly Singaporean’s pocket.

Investigations into the drug activities of all the suspects are ongoing.
