SINGAPORE – A four-year-old child was found in a drug den by anti-narcotics personnel during a raid at Chin Swee Road on Tuesday (June 5), said the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

The CNB said in a media release on Friday that when they found the girl, who was with her 22-year-old mother, sachets of 'Ice' were strewn across the den and were "within possible reach of the child".

A further search of the unit by the Bureau revealed a total of about 26g of 'Ice', a digital weighing scale and some improvised drug-smoking apparatus'. Six people were nabbed in the drug den.

Two suspected Singaporean drug traffickers, a 29-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, were arrested in the drug den.

The girl's mother, a suspected drug abuser, was arrested along with three other male suspected drug abusers – two Singaporeans aged 29 and 31, and a 28-year-old Malaysian.

"The Bureau has worked with the Ministry of Social and Family Development's Child Protective Services to ensure that the girl receives continued care under an immediate family member and is supported in the community with services," said the media release.

Tuesday's raid was part of a five day island-wide raid that included areas such Bishan, Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, Clementi, Marsiling, Punggol, Tampines, Teck Whye and Toa Payoh.

The raids, which took place from June 2 to June 7, saw a total of 91 suspected drug offenders arrested. About 48g of 'Ice', 12g of heroin, 32g of cannabis, 23 'Ecstasy' tablets, 1g of ketamine, 1g of cocaine, 55 Erimin-5 tablets and three LSD stamps were seized.

Investigations into the drug activities of all those arrested are ongoing.
