Get well wishes pour in for Heng Swee Keat
SINGAPORE – Get well wishes are pouring in for Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat, after the 54-year-old suffered a stroke and collapsed during a Cabinet meeting on Thursday (May 12).

SINGAPORE – Get well wishes are pouring in for Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat, after the 54-year-old suffered a stroke and collapsed during a Cabinet meeting on Thursday (May 12).
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, in a Facebook post, wrote: "Hope Swee Keat will be alright - he is a valuable member of my team."
Three doctors attended to Mr Heng when he collapsed at about 5.34pm. "We managed to resuscitate him but he and his family will now need all our prayers and support as he undergoes critical procedures and treatment for the stroke," Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen wrote on Facebook.
An ambulance took Mr Heng to the Tan Tock Seng Hospital where a CT scan showed that he had had a stroke.
"Praying for the recovery of our colleague Swee Keat," Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean wrote in a Facebook post.
Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin, Environment Minister Masagos Zulkifli, and Minister in Prime Minister's Office Chan Chun Sing wrote separate messages on social media as well, wishing Mr Heng a speedy recovery.
"(I'm) feeling anxious about my GRC colleague Minister Heng Swee Keat, who collapsed while we were having a cabinet meeting. Let's pray for his recovery and for his family," Mr Masagos wrote.
The Workers' Party also wished Mr Heng a speedy recovery. Other Facebook users have weighed in as well. Mr Lawrence Loh wrote: "(Mr Heng) is a good man and we pray for speedy recovery."
Prior to Thursday's unexpected announcement, there were no indications that Mr Heng was unwell. For about two hours on Sunday, he took part in a litter-picking exercise with Tampines residents. Mr Heng is the anchor minister for Tampines GRC.
"Good to join residents to do our part together," Mr Heng wrote on his Facebook post on Tuesday.
