SINGAPORE — For a second straight day, the National Environment Agency (NEA) is warning of hazy conditions over parts of Singapore, as it detected a hotspot with a smoke plume in southeastern Johor.
On Thursday (April 12), the agency said it found the hotspot in the same locality as reported on Wednesday, and that the prevailing winds from the east-northeast are blowing the smoke haze over the sea areas in the Republic's southeast.
"A further eastward shift of the winds may bring hazy conditions over parts of Singapore, and would likely be accompanied with a burning smell in the air," it added.
For Friday, the NEA is forecasting the 24-hour PSI to be in the Good to Moderate range, as a result of prevailing winds forecasted to blow from the east-northeast, and thundery showers expected in the afternoon.
As at 7pm today, the 24-hr PSI was 48-56, in the Good to Moderate range, and the 1-hr PM2.5 concentration reading is 5-23 microgram per cubic metre.
