HDB launches over 5,000 new flats in August sales exercise

SINGAPORE — The Housing and Development Board (HDB) has launched 5,101 flats for sale in the August 2018 Build-To-Order (BTO) and Re-offer of Balance Flats (ROF) exercise.

Among the flats available are 4,375 BTO units spread across four projects in the non-mature towns of Punggol and Yishun, and 726 ROF units across various towns and estates, the HDB said in a press release on Tuesday (Aug 28).

Eligible first-timer families can enjoy up to S$80,000 of housing grants. With these, BTO buyers could pay as little as S$4,000 for their two-room Flexi flats. Prices start from S$103,000 for three-room, S$188,000 for four-room, and S$329,000 five-room flats.

For the ROF flats, including grants, those going for mature towns could expect to fork out upwards of S$110,000 for a two-room Flexi and upwards of S$374,000 for a five-room flat. In comparison, those going for non-mature towns will pay from S$90,000 for a three-room and from $291,000 for a five-room flat, inclusive of grants.

Applications for this sale exercise can be submitted online via the HDB InfoWEB from Tuesday and end next Monday (Sept 3).

The HDB reiterated that applications are not processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, they will be shortlisted via a computer ballot, so interested applicants may submit their online application any time before the closing date.

The next BTO launch will be in November, where the HDB will offer about 3,800 flats in Sembawang, Sengkang, Tampines, Tengah and Yishun.

Of these, the flats in Sembawang, Sengkang and Yishun will have a shorter waiting time of 2.5 years instead of the typical three to four years, said the HDB.

The 726 unselected flats from the November 2017 Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) and February 2018 ROF exercises are also available.

They comprise 67 units of two-room Flexi, 171 units of three-room, 294 units of four-room, 152 units of five-room, 33 units of 3Gen and nine units of executive flats across various towns (and) estates.
