Ikea Alexandra and Wisma Atria burger joint among places visited by Covid-19 cases while infectious

SINGAPORE — The Ikea store along Alexandra Road and a burger joint at Wisma Atria were added on Saturday (Aug 1) to a list of public places that have been visited by Covid-19 cases during their infectious period.

In its evening update on the coronavirus situation in Singapore on Saturday, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that the infectious patients had visited:

• Ananas Cafe at 10, Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4 on July 25 between 12.30pm and 2pm

• Botanict, CT Hub at 2, Kallang Avenue on July 25 between 6pm and 8pm

• Giant, Sunshine Place at 475, Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3 on July 26 between 2.30pm and 3.30pm

• Ikea Alexandra at 317, Alexandra Road on July 28 between 11.15am and 12.15pm

• Omakase Burger, Wisma Atria at 435, Orchard Road on July 29 between 7pm and 8.40pm

MOH said it would have notified those who had been identified as close contacts of confirmed cases.

"As a precautionary measure, persons who had been at these locations during the specified timings should monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit," it said.

It added that they should see a doctor promptly if they develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection, such as cough, sore throat and runny nose, as well as fever and loss of taste or smell, and inform the doctor of their exposure history.

“There is no need to avoid places where confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been. The National Environment Agency will engage the management of affected premises to provide guidance on cleaning and disinfection.”

On Saturday, MOH reported 307 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore. Of these, five are imported and another one is a community case. The remaining 301 are foreign workers living in dormitories.
