SINGAPORE — The Ion Orchard mall along Orchard Road will be closed to members of the public for four days starting from Saturday (June 12) after the authorities detected three cases of Covid-19 infections there.

Announcing this on Friday, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that it is investigating three cases of Covid-19 among people who work at the mall, and the closure is “to break any potential chain of transmission and enable deep cleaning of the premises”.

Those infected include a 57-year-old woman who works at a Guardian pharmacy there. Her case was reported on Friday and it has no known links to past community infections.

MOH said that it will conduct a special testing operation for people who have been working at the mall since May 28.

“We will also extend free Covid-19 testing to members of the public who had visited the retail shops or used the services or facilities at Ion Orchard between June 3 (and) 11.”

It stressed that members of the public who had only walked through the mall to connect to neighbouring buildings or Orchard MRT Station need not be tested.

MOH advised all visitors to the mall between June 3 and 11 to monitor their health closely and to minimise social interactions as far as possible for 14 days from their date of visit.

The mall will reopen on June 16 after a deep-cleaning of the premises.
