Jars of Essential Waitrose pickled beetroot sold by Cold Storage recalled, may contain glass

SINGAPORE — Supermarket chain Cold Storage has been directed to recall jars of pickled sweet sliced beetroot from the Essential Waitrose brand, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said in a statement on Friday (May 24).

SINGAPORE — Supermarket chain Cold Storage has been directed to recall jars of pickled sweet sliced beetroot from the Essential Waitrose brand, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said in a statement on Friday (May 24).

The food product, which is from the United Kingdom, may contain small pieces of glass, as indicated by the European Commission Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed.

Cold Storage is the sole Singapore importer of the 340g product, which comes in a glass jar with a metal top.

The recall is ongoing and customers who have bought the affected product are advised not to eat it, SFA said.
