Listing of places visited by Covid-19 cases in anticipation of likely rise in new community infections post-circuit breaker: MOH

SINGAPORE — Given the likelihood of a rise in new community Covid-19 cases after the circuit breaker that restricted activities ends on June 1, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has stressed that it is critical to detect and contain these cases quickly, and prevent large clusters from forming.

SINGAPORE — Given the likelihood of a rise in new community Covid-19 cases after the circuit breaker that restricted activities ends on June 1, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has stressed that it is critical to detect and contain these cases quickly, and prevent large clusters from forming.

And this is why since May 25, it started providing a list of public places that infected persons in the community had visited for more than 30 minutes, “so that individuals who had been at these locations during the specified timings could take the precautionary measure to monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit”.

There is no need for members of the public to avoid places where confirmed cases have been, MOH said on Friday (May 29) in response to TODAY queries on why it is publishing the lists at this stage of the pandemic.

“The National Environment Agency will engage the management of affected premises to provide guidance on cleaning and disinfection,” the ministry reiterated.

Those who were at these places during the specified timings should see a doctor promptly if they develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection, such as cough, sore throat and runny nose, as well as fever and loss of taste or smell, it added.

These individuals should also inform the doctor of their exposure history.

The ministry had previously said that the list would not include residences, workplaces, healthcare facilities and public transport.

The list is updated as epidemiological investigations progress. Those who had been identified as close contacts of the confirmed cases would already have been notified by MOH.

As of noon on Friday, the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country had reached 33,860.

The locations and timings MOH had listed as of Friday are:

  • Jurong West 505 Market and Food Centre from 9am to 9.30am on May 17
