SINGAPORE — The police have arrested a 38-year-old man after he was spotted taking a video up the skirt of a female victim at Clementi MRT Station. He is suspected to be involved in other similar cases at train stations.

In a news release on Wednesday (July 7), the police said that on-duty officers from the Public Transport Security Command (TransCom) saw the man allegedly taking the upskirt video on an escalator at Clementi MRT Station at 7.20am on Tuesday.

Officers from TransCom, a unit under the Singapore Police Force, patrol and conduct random checks on people at public transport venues to detect and deter potential criminal and security incidents.

The officers later detained and arrested the man at the concourse area of the station.

Preliminary investigations by the police found that the man is believed to be involved in other similar cases of voyeurism at various MRT stations across the island.

If found guilty of the offence of voyeurism, he can be jailed for up to two years, fined or caned, or any combinations of such punishments.

Investigations are ongoing.
