SINGAPORE — A fight broke out outside Peace Centre in the wee hours of Wednesday (Sept 14) morning, resulting in the arrest of a man who allegedly used abusing language against a public servant.

In response to TODAY’s queries on Thursday, the police said that they were alerted to a fight along Sophia Road at around 3.35am the previous day.

The Peace Centre is located along Sophia Road, on the corner of Selegie Road, not far from landmarks such as The Cathay mall as well as the School of the Arts.

The police said that a 30-year-old man sustained minor injuries in the fight, but did not want to be taken to the hospital.

“A 35-year-old man was arrested for using abusive language against a public servant,” the police added.

In a video uploaded to Facebook by Mr Patrick Tan, a group of more than 15 people can be seen gathered in the area of the fight, with some trying to disperse the group and calm the situation down.

A man in a red T-shirt and another man in a black T-shirt can be seen trading blows near the entrance of Peace Centre as several other people try to disengage the duo.

The man in the black T-shirt was pulled away by another man towards a railing, but was then seemingly punched in the back of the head, causing him to crumple.

A woman is then seen helping the man off the ground.

More fighting is seen in the background as a man in a white T-shirt is seen trading blows with a man in a tan-coloured shirt and another in a black T-shirt.

The 31-second video then ends.

Police investigations are ongoing.
