SINGAPORE — Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Gan Kim Yong, has been issued a health risk warning following close contact with a positive Covid-19 case.

A Ministry of Trade and Industry spokesperson said on Saturday (Oct 2) that Mr Gan is minimising social interactions till the warning ends on Oct 4.

Earlier on Saturday, Mr Gan was not physically present at the Covid-19 multi-ministry task force press conference but attended instead via video conferencing app Zoom.

A health risk warning is issued to those who have been identified as a close contact of a confirmed Covid-19 case, or have been in close proximity with a confirmed case for an extended period of time.

Upon receiving the warning, one is required to take a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test within 48 hours and immediately self-isolate until a negative test result is released.

Social interactions with others during the entire health risk warning period should also be minimised.

On the third, fifth and seventh days after the last exposure to the Covid-19 case, self-testing using an antigen rapid test kit is required.

Another PCR test is to be taken on the eighth day after the last exposure to the confirmed case and the health risk warning ends on the 10th day.
