SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed six new cases of Covid-19, including four that are imported and one that is in the community. The remaining case is a migrant worker staying in a dormitory.

This is the first time the number of daily cases is a single digit since March 12, when there were nine new cases.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Saturday (Oct 3) that of the new cases, four have no symptoms and were detected through proactive screening and surveillance. The other two cases were symptomatic.

The one community case is a 44-year-old Singaporean man who has no known links to other cases. He was detected as part of enhanced community testing to test all individuals aged 13 and above who are diagnosed with acute respiratory infection.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased from an average of fewer than one case per day in the week before to an average of one case in the past week.

The number of cases in the community with no known sources of infection has also remained stable at an average of fewer than one a day in the two past weeks.

The four imported cases include a Singaporean who returned from India on Sept 21 and another two imported cases are work permit holders who arrived from Indonesia on Sept 21. The remaining case is a child holding a short-term visit pass whose parent is a Singapore permanent resident. The child arrived from Indonesia on Sept 25.

MOH said that they were placed on 14-day stay-home notices and tested positive while serving their notices at dedicated facilities.

The one case involving a migrant worker in a dormitory had been identified earlier as a contact of previous cases. He was tested during quarantine to determine his status.

UPDATES ON REMAINING CASES

The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 57,800.

Of these, 57,562 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 28 on Saturday.

There are still 46 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in intensive care.

Another 165 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
