SINGAPORE — Students who sat for the GCE N-level examinations this year collected their results from their secondary schools today (Dec 18) at 2pm.
Among the Normal (Academic) students, 99.7 per cent achieved at least a pass grade of 5 or better in at least one N(A) subject, while 74.6 per cent of them are also eligible for promotion to secondary five next year. These students obtained an aggregate not exceeding 19 points in English Language (EL), Mathematics and best three subjects (ELMAB3) and a Grade 5 or better for both EL and Mathematics.
Among the Normal (Technical) students, 97.5 per cent obtained a pass grade of Grade D or better in at least one N(T) subject.
A total of 11,176 students in the Secondary 4 N(A) Course and 5,120 students in the Secondary 4 N(T) Course sat for the examinations.
This year, 34.5 per cent of the students from the N(A) course sat for subjects in O-Level Examination. These students are also eligible to proceed to Secondary 5 if they obtain an aggregate not exceeding 19 points in English, Mathematics and best three subjects, and a Grade 5 or better for both English and Mathematics, using their combined GCE N(A) Level and their school-based O-Level preliminary examination results.
These students will also have the option of applying for the Direct-Entry Scheme into Polytechnic Programme (DPP), which prepares them for progression into selected diploma courses via a two-year Higher Nitec programme at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE). About 1,000 DPP slots are offered annually.
From January next year, those who have progressed to secondary five, and have obtained an ELMAB3 aggregate of 11 points or less can apply for the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP), a one-year programme which prepares students for entry into polytechnic. There are about 1,200 PFP slots in total.
