SINGAPORE — A branch of the popular Thai restaurant chain Nakhon Kitchen has been suspended by the National Environment Agency (NEA) for a rodent infestation and failure to register its staff.

In a notice, NEA said the 14-day suspension of Nakhon Kitchen's Holland Village outlet started on Monday (Oct 16) and will end on Oct 29.

Nakhon Kitchen also incurred a S$800 fine for the offences.

Under NEA's demerit points system, any licensee who accumulates 12 or more demerit points during a year-long period may have his licence suspended for a period of either two or four weeks, or cancelled.

For accumulating 12 demerit points over the last 12 months, food handlers from the Nakhon Kitchen outlet at 27A Lorong Liput Holland Village are also required to attend and pass NEA's Basic Food Hygiene Course again, before they can resume work as food handlers.

The other six Nakhon Kitchen outlets islandwide remain open, a staff told TODAY.
