SINGAPORE — Cabbies may soon look forward to a mediation system that helps resolve disputes between drivers, operators and parties like insurance firms.

This was revealed by National Taxi Association’s adviser Ang Hin Kee at a National Day celebration by the labour movement this morning (Aug 1).

The mediation system was among many suggestions put forth by the National Taxi Association to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) urging less stringent standards for cabbies.

New taxi licence holders may also get some reprieve.

Mr Ang said: “The second idea that we brought forth that is being considered is to let new taxi licence holders be familiar with driving as a relief driver first. That has got some attention from relief drivers as well as LTA.” CHANNEL NEWSASIA
