Covid-19: ICU patients down to 2; cluster linked to Hong Ye Group cleaners closed

SINGAPORE — The number of Covid-19 patients under intensive care has fallen to two on Friday (July 2), down from three the day before.

SINGAPORE — The number of Covid-19 patients under intensive care has fallen to two on Friday (July 2), down from three the day before.

In its nightly update on the coronavirus situation, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that the two in intensive care units were above the ages of 60 and not vaccinated.

They were part of 119 patients who are hospitalised. Among them, another nine patients require supplemental oxygen — two of whom are aged between 40 and 60 while the remaining seven are above 60 years old.

MOH said that there is continuing evidence that vaccination helps to prevent serious disease when one gets infected.

“Over the last 28 days, 24 local cases required oxygen supplementation, were admitted to intensive care units or died. Twenty-one are unvaccinated, three are partially vaccinated and none was fully vaccinated,” it added.

MOH reported on Friday three new Covid-19 cases that were locally transmitted.

Two of them were linked to past cases and detected through surveillance, with one traced to the cluster at Block 105 Henderson Crescent. The third has no known links to confirmed cases.

Rounding out the 10 new cases for the day were seven imported ones. Of the seven, four were detected upon arrival in Singapore and three fell ill during isolation or while serving a stay-home notice.

The total number of infections in Singapore is now 62,599.

A cluster linked to the Hong Ye Group cleaners was closed because no more cases had surfaced for the past two incubation periods.

This leaves 28 active Covid-19 clusters — each having between three and 93 cases.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has dropped from 93 in the week before to 46 in the past week.

The number of cases with no known links in the community has gone down from 17 in the week before to six in the past week.

“The seven-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 5.7 and 0.9 respectively,” MOH said.

VACCINATIONS

Some 5.55 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been given to about 3.43 million people as of Thursday.

More than 2.1 million people have received their second dose and completed the full vaccination regimen.

In an Instagram post on Friday, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said that several doses of the Covid-19 vaccines “set sail” to Pulau Ubin in the morning to be administered to islanders there.

“In the steady hands of one of our home vaccination teams, three of our less-mobile seniors on the island received their vaccination. Their caregivers and several frontliners stationed at Pulau Ubin also received their jabs.

“Kudos to our vaccination team for going the extra (nautical) mile to deliver the jabs,” Mr Ong said.
