SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 334 new cases of Covid-19, including four that are imported and three that are in the community. The remaining 327 are migrant workers staying in dormitories.

In a press release on Wednesday (July 29), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that the four imported cases include one Singaporean, one work pass holder and two student’s pass holders aged 10 and 18.

They had arrived from India, the Philippines and Indonesia between July 14 and July 17 and had been placed on 14-day stay-home notices at dedicated facilities.

They tested positive while serving their notices, MOH said.

The three cases in the community include two Singaporeans and a work pass holder. They are all linked to past cases or clusters, MOH said.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone down from an average of nine a day in the week before, to an average of four a day in the past week, MOH said.

The number of cases in the community with no known sources of infection has also gone down from an average of five a day in the week before, to an average of two a day in the past week.

For the second day in a row, no new locations were added to a list of public places that had been visited by Covid-19 cases during their infectious period.

Separately, MOH said that the inter-agency task force handling the infection controls at foreign worker dormitories has been “systematically and progressively clearing dormitories through aggressive testing of migrant workers residing in dormitories”.

As such, 24 dormitories have been cleared and now house only recovered individuals and those who have recently tested negative for Covid-19 infection.
