SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Monday (July 6) reported 183 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 44,983.

SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Monday (July 6) reported 183 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 44,983.

Of the new cases, three were imported cases with travel history to Yemen, India and the Philippines. There were 23 cases in the community: Three are Singaporeans, one a work pass holder and 19 work permit holders. The remaining 157 were foreign workers staying in dormitories.

In a press release, MOH said that among the three imported cases, two are Singaporeans who returned to Singapore from Yemen on June 24 and India on June 23 respectively.

The remaining case is a Filipino who returned to Singapore from the Philippines on June 24, MOH said.

“She is a work pass holder who is currently employed in Singapore,” MOH said, adding that all three imported cases had been placed on stay-home notice upon arrival in the country and were tested while serving their notices.

Of the 23 cases in the community, 17 were linked to previous cases or clusters.

Among them, seven are migrant workers who reside together at a temporary accommodation arranged by their company.

Overall, MOH said that the number of new cases in the community has increased from an average of seven a day in the week before to 12 a day in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from an average of four a day in the week before to five a day in the past week.

MOH said that in the past week, from June 29 to July 5, about four in 10 of the community cases have been tested “serology positive, indicating that they are likely past infections”.

Separately, MOH also identified one new cluster of infections located at Micron Semiconductor Asia at 1 North Coast Drive.

UPDATE ON THE REMAINING CASES

In all, MOH said that 40,717 people have fully recovered from the Covid-19 infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including the 276 on Monday.

There are currently 208 patients who are still in hospital. Of these, MOH said that most are stable or improving, and two are in critical condition.

MOH added that 4,032 patients are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19. Twenty-six people have died from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
