SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed three new cases of Covid-19, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 17).

There are two new locally transmitted cases, with one in the community and the other in a foreign worker dormitory.

The third is an imported case which had all been placed on stay-home notices upon arrival in Singapore.

In its update on Saturday night, MOH said all three cases today were asymptomatic, and were detected from its proactive screening and surveillance.

The community case, an unemployed migrant worker, is currently unlinked. The 49-year-old Bangladeshi's infection was detected as part of routine testing of Special Pass holders.

"His serological test result has come back positive, which indicates likely past infection," said MOH.

The case in a dormitory was discovered through the ministry's bi-weekly rostered routine testing of workers living in dormitories.

The imported case involved a Singaporean woman, 19, who had returned from Indonesia.

MOH said that overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained stable at an average of fewer than one case per day in the past two weeks.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also remained stable at an average of fewer than one case per day in the last fortnight.

UPDATE ON REMAINING CASES

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore now stands at 57,904.

Of these, 57,798 have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 14 on Saturday.

There are currently 37 confirmed cases who are still in hospital.

"Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit," said MOH.

Another 41 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well, but still test positive for Covid-19.

So far, 28 people here have died from complications due to Covid-19.
