SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed 12 new cases of Covid-19, all of which were imported. There were no cases in the community.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Wednesday (Oct 21) that all of the fresh cases have no symptoms.

The 12 imported cases comprise nine work permit holders, two dependant’s pass holders and one short-term visit pass holder.

MOH said that the short-term visit pass holder is a 36-year-old Egyptian man who had arrived in Singapore for his upcoming marriage to his Singaporean fiancée.

The others had arrived from Indonesia, Myanmar, United Arab Emirates and the Philippines.

All 12 had been placed on stay-home notices upon their arrival in Singapore and were tested while serving their notices.

Overall, MOH said that the number of new cases in the community has gone down from four cases in the week before to two in the past week.

The number of cases with no known links in the community has, however, gone up from none in the week before to two cases in the past week.

At the same time, MOH said that it has been monitoring existing clusters for any further transmission.

“As there have been no more cases linked to the cluster at Tuas View Dormitory for the past two incubation periods, the cluster has now been closed,” it said.

UPDATES ON REMAINING CASES

The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 57,933.

Of these, 57,821 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including two on Wednesday.

There are still 43 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in intensive care.

Another 41 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-eight people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
