1,443 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore; 1,142 patients warded in hospitals

SINGAPORE — Singapore reported 1,443 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday (Sept 25), of which 1,424 were locally transmitted.
There are 1,142 infected people who are in hospital, 50 more than the day before, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its daily update on the coronavirus situation on Saturday night.
Of the locally transmitted cases, 371 were migrant workers staying at the dormitories and the remaining 1,053 were community cases. Among them, 280 were people aged above 60.
There were 19 imported cases recorded on Saturday, all of whom were placed on stay-home notices or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.
Of the imported cases, 14 people were detected upon arrival in Singapore while five developed the illness while in isolation.
Three more patients have died due to complications from Covid-19, with the death toll now at 76 since the outbreak began last year.
Singapore has recorded a total of 85,953 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic last year.
SERIOUSLY ILL
Apart from the 1,142 Covid-19 cases who are in hospital as of Saturday, there are now 165 seriously ill patients requiring oxygen support to help them breathe.
This is three more than the 162 reported on Friday.
Another 27 patients are under intensive care, four more than the day before.
Of those who have fallen very ill, 158 are above 60 years old, seven more than on Friday.
Over the last 28 days, the percentage of local cases who had no or mild symptoms is 97.9 per cent.
In all, 326 cases required oxygen support while 37 were under intensive care
Of these 52.9 per cent were fully vaccinated 47.1 per cent were not
Over that period, 19 people have died, of whom 31.6 per cent were fully vaccinated and 68.4 per cent were not
CLUSTERS UNDER MONITORING
No new locations were added to the list of large clusters under close monitoring.
There were, however, 35 new cases added to seven clusters that were under the authorities’ scrutiny.
These included 24 infections at Blue Stars Dormitory in Boon Lay. The cluster now has 243 cases.
VACCINATIONS
As of Sept 24, 82 per cent of the population has been fully vaccinated, and 84 per cent has received at least one dose.
A total of 9,066,237 doses of Covid-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme (Pfizer-BioNTech or Comirnaty and Moderna) have been administered, covering 4,590,002 individuals, with 4,469,610 people having completed the full vaccination regimen.
In addition, 190,738 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing have been administered, covering 87,701 individuals.
