SINGAPORE — All 254 people who had visited the SLR Revolution camera shop at Excelsior Shopping Centre and who were tested for Covid-19 have been cleared of the disease, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Tuesday (Sept 8).

It has completed the screening and testing of these individuals and their results “have come back negative”, it said.

The testing was done as a precautionary measure following the detection of three cases who had worked at or visited the shop even though the risk of infection for visitors is assessed to be low, MOH said earlier.

In its press release on Tuesday, the ministry reported that there were 47 new cases of Covid-19, including one that is imported and 46 who are migrant workers staying in dormitories.

All of them were asymptomatic, MOH noted.

There are no cases in the community but there is a new cluster of infections at the S11 Dormitory in Punggol. The dormitory was previously cleared of the coronavirus on Aug 8.

The one imported case is a one-year-old Singaporean boy who had returned from India on Aug 24.

He had been placed on a 14-day stay-home notice and tested positive while staying at a dedicated facility.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone down from an average of three cases a day in the week before to an average of two a day in the past week.

The number of cases in the community with no links to past cases has gone up from an average of one a day in the week before to an average of two a day in the past week.

Of the 46 new cases involving migrant workers in dormitories, 25 had been identified earlier as contacts of previous cases.

The remaining 21 were detected through surveillance testing, such as the Rostered Routine Testing and the testing of those with acute respiratory infection symptoms.

UPDATES ON REMAINING CASES

The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 57,091.

Of these, 56,461 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 53 on Tuesday.

There are still 48 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving. No one is in intensive care.

Another 555 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
