SINGAPORE — A new medical centre at Mount Alvernia Hospital officially opened today (Oct 20), with over 50 new clinics offering a range of specialties such as obstetrics and gynaecology, cardiology and orthopaedic surgery.

The eight-storey Medical Centre D also houses a new outpatient laboratory and 350 more parking lots, including some designated for the disabled.

Medical Centre D is part of the hospital’s plan to increase capacity and cater to Singapore’s growing and ageing population.

“Our key focus in the past has been on maternity and paediatric care, and this will remain as one of the hospital’s core focus moving forward. But in view of the rapidly ageing population in Singapore, we will also be designing and realigning our services and facilities to better meet the needs of the ageing population in future. As a hospital, we hope to support our patients throughout their entire life journey,” said the hospital’s chief executive officer Lee Suen Ming.

The new centre was completed in April and started serving patients in July.
