SINGAPORE — From Thursday (Oct 29), TraceTogether tokens will be distributed constituency by constituency, starting first with Marsiling Community Centre (CC), the Smart Nation and Digital Government Office (SNDGO) said on Tuesday (Oct 27).

As the collection of the contact-tracing tokens at CCs will be restricted to residents within the constituency, this means that only Marsiling residents can get the tokens from Thursday.

So far, some 400,000 TraceTogether tokens have been distributed. Together with the TraceTogether mobile application, the take-up rate for the contact-tracing scheme is at more than 50 per cent of the population, SNDGO said in reply to TODAY’s queries.

After Marsiling CC, residents living in the Woodgrove may collect their tokens from Oct 31 at Fuchun and Woodgrove CC. Yew Tee residents may collect their tokens from Yew Tee CC from Nov 3.

Once distribution starts at a CC, it will continue even when new distribution points are rolled out.

SNDGO added in its media statement on Tuesday that it will temporarily suspend distribution of the tokens at the 38 CCs that have served as collection venues for the past six weeks, to shift to the new mode of distribution.

More CCs will be progressively opened for the collection of tokens from October to December, it said, adding that all centres — including the initial 38 CCs — will be open for collection by the second half of December.

Residents living in the same constituencies where these 38 CCs are located and who have not collected their tokens yet will be able to do so at that time, it added.

They should check the TokenGoWhere website to find their designated collection venue as well as the full collection schedule.

On Tuesday last week, Education Minister Lawrence Wong said that more people have to be on the TraceTogether app or use the token, among other conditions, before Singapore can move into Phase Three of reopening its economy after the restricted movement period in April and May.

The authorities want the take-up rate to be 70 per cent of the population or more, Mr Wong said. He is co-chair of the multi-ministry task force handling the Covid-19 pandemic. The take-up rate has increased about 5 percentage points since Mr Wong’s comments last week.
