No new Covid-19 cases detected so far in testing operations at Punggol and Hougang housing blocks

SINGAPORE — Covid-19 testing conducted at public housing blocks in Punggol and Hougang have yielded no new cases of infection as at 12pm on Wednesday (June 9), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.

SINGAPORE — Covid-19 testing conducted at public housing blocks in Punggol and Hougang have yielded no new cases of infection as at 12pm on Wednesday (June 9), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.

MOH had conducted a compulsory testing operation at 325A Sumang Walk on Tuesday and Wednesday after eight people from three different households in the block were infected. 

The ministry said on Wednesday that 419 residents and visitors have been tested and 394 individuals had tested negative for the virus, while 25 more test results are pending.

Starting last Friday, residents at and visitors who have been to Block 506 Hougang Avenue 8 as well as nearby blocks underwent mandatory Covid-19 swab tests after the emergence of a new cluster there with 13 cases.

MOH added that 4,236 visitors of 506 Hougang Avenue 8 as well as residents and visitors of neighbouring blocks have stepped forward for testing and of those, the tests of 4,140 individuals returned negative, while the results of the remaining 96 are still pending.

The neighbouring blocks are 511 Hougang Avenue 10; 681, 683 and 684 Hougang Avenue 8; 682 Hougang Avenue 4; 685 and 698 Hougang Street 61.

Previous swabbing operations at housing estates have detected positive Covid-19 cases.

Last week, four cases were detected in mandatory testing operations in Yishun and Hougang.

Three cases were found at the end of the testing operations at Block 745 on Yishun Street 72, and one positive case was detected at the testing exercise at Blocks 501 and 507 on Hougang Avenue 8.
