SINGAPORE — Love is in the air at Taylor Swift’s six-day The Eras Tour concert series in Singapore.
The American singer-songwriter's shows, which kicked off last Saturday (March 2), will wrap up this Saturday.
Besides multiple marriage proposals happening during the “Love Story” segment of Swift’s performance, non-Swifties — or people who are not fans of Taylor Swift — have gone an extra mile to woo or keep up with their partners who are Swifties.
An Indonesian man won over the internet after he was spotted wearing a custom-made T-shirt, which showed a spreadsheet of the whopping 34,350,000 Indonesian rupiah (S$2,935) that he had spent just to take his wife to Swift’s concert in Singapore.
He attended the second day of the concert last Sunday, with his wife Ulfa Merdeka, an Indonesian content creator.
The front of his T-shirt read in Bahasa Indonesian: “I’m not a Swiftie but I want to please my wife.”
The back of the tee listed a cost breakdown of the couple’s trip, and Ms Ulfa posted a picture of it on her Instagram stories.
If you are curious about his expenses, here they are:
Category 1 seat tickets – 21,500,000 rupiah (S$1,837)
Flight from Surabaya to Singapore – 7,000,000 rupiah (S$598)
Hotel 1 night – 3,800,000 rupiah (S$325)
Food and drinks – 3,800,000 rupiah (S$325)
Wife’s outfit – 1,000,000 rupiah (S$85)
Souvenirs – 1,000,000 rupiah (S$85)
This custom-printed T-shirt – 50,000 rupiah (S$4.30)
This brings the total cost of the all-expenses-paid trip to almost S$3,260, a little more than the S$2,935 he quoted on the T-shirt.
And the cherry on top? This sweet line on the tee: “Signed, a husband who loves his wife”.
Social media users praised the man for being a good husband, with many saying they wished for a similar partner.
BOOKLET OF TAYLOR SWIFT'S SONG LYRICS
Another non-Swiftie captured the hearts of online users when he was spotted armed with a booklet of Taylor Swift’s song lyrics so that he could sing along with his partner during the concert.
TikTok user “fellyfellll” posted a clip of her singing along to Cruel Summer with her partner who was apparently not a fan but sang along with equal enthusiasm, while referring to his "cheatsheet" of the lyrics.
The video, posted on Tuesday, hit 1.1 million views and received close to 200,000 likes within a day.
Fans commended the man for being fully committed to being a temporary Swiftie: “Look at the number of friendship bands.”
One listed an example of what not to do: “I saw so many boyfriends just sitting and yawning.”
The video seemingly raised the standards for many viewers: “Ladies, this is why you should never settle for less.”
Another wrote: “If he wanted to, he would and he did.”
Indeed if they wanted, they would. You can show your partner this article as proof.
