1 Covid-19 case found from mass testing of Blocks 501 and 507 Hougang Ave 8

SINGAPORE — One case of Covid-19 has been found after the completion of mass testing of residents and visitors at two blocks at Hougang Avenue 8, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Saturday (June 5).

MOH said details on this positive case will be reported in an upcoming press release.

The case was found after MOH conducted mandatory testing for 828 residents and visitors of blocks 501 and 507 Hougang Avenue 8, after viral fragments of the coronavirus were detected in wastewater samples collected there.

UPDATE ON TESTING AT BLOCK 506

MOH also gave an update on the second round of testing of visitors and residents of Block 506 Hougang Avenue 8 and staff working in shops in neighbouring blocks.

They had to undergo mandatory Covid-19 tests after new cases were found in the block and neighbouring ones since an earlier round of testing was conducted at the block on May 21 and 22.

As of noon on Saturday, 1,208 residents of the block and staff working in shops in neighbouring blocks have been tested, MOH said. Of these, 776 individuals were found to be negative for Covid-19 and 432 more test results are pending.

The neighbouring blocks are: 

• Block 511 Hougang Avenue 10

• Blocks 681, 683 and 684 Hougang Avenue 8

• 682 Hougang Avenue 4

• 685 and 698 Hougang Street 61

Due to the high response for the testing, the operations will be extended for one more day to Sunday, MOH said. The tests will be conducted at the void deck of 507 Hougang Avenue 8, between 9am and 4pm.

In addition, 1,808 visitors of Block 506 and residents and visitors of the neighbouring blocks have also come forward for voluntary testing and been tested, MOH said.

Of these, 1,246 individuals were found to be negative for Covid-19 and 562 more test results are pending.
