SINGAPORE — The National Environment Agency (NEA) has identified two dengue clusters in Orchard Road. The clusters are at the Orchard Gateway construction site, and Eber Road and Oxley Rise area. As at 8.30pm today (Oct 22), there were 22 dengue cases in those areas. The first case was reported on Sept 25. The Orchard Gateway construction site near 313@Somerset, with 18 cases, is a red zone for dengue. Any area with more than 10 dengue cases is considered a red zone or a high risk area. Authorities said what is known is that 15 of the 18 who came down with dengue are workers at the site, while the other three are individuals working near it. "I think the most important thing is to ensure the contractors and workers there make sure there is no water ponding, make sure that there are no (mosquito) breeding sites, and obviously, to be sure that (if you) have been affected, receive the correct treatment," said Ms Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State for Law and Education, who is also an MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC. Since the start of the year, 18,212 dengue cases have been reported in Singapore. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
