SINGAPORE — More than six in 10 of 3,900 students from special education schools who were invited to sign up for Covid-19 vaccination have taken up slots as of Jan 11.

Mobile vaccination teams from the Health Promotion Board started going to these schools on Wednesday to vaccinate these students, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 12).

The vaccination exercise for students aged six to 11 in special education schools began with Katong School, Lighthouse School, Lee Kong Chian Gardens School and Towner Gardens School and will be progressively rolled out to all 20 of these schools with eligible students.

MOE and the Ministry of Health jointly organised two parent webinars on Dec 29 and Jan 6 to address questions from parents of students enrolled at these schools about the exercise.

Singapore began vaccinating all children aged five to 11 from Dec 27, with a smaller dose of the Covid-19 vaccine compared with adolescents and adults.
