Pedestrian, 64, dies after being hit by car along Dunearn Road, driver arrested for dangerous driving

SINGAPORE — A pedestrian died after being hit by a car while crossing Dunearn Road on Sunday (April 23).

SINGAPORE — A 64-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a car while crossing Dunearn Road on Sunday (April 23), and a 44-year-old male driver has been arrested for dangerous driving. 

In response to queries from TODAY, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it was alerted to the accident at about 2.05pm on Sunday.

The accident occurred at the road traffic junction of Dunearn Road and Shelford Road, near Tan Kah Kee MRT Station. 

“Upon arrival, a person was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic,” said an SCDF spokesperson. 

In addition, one person was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and two persons to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. 

A police spokesperson said that the male driver and two passengers — a boy, 4, and a girl, 3 — were taken to the hospital while conscious.

An image shared on the page shows police and SCDF personnel cordoning off traffic at the accident scene. 

The driver was subsequently arrested for dangerous driving causing death, the police added. Investigations are ongoing.
