PM Lee joins 1,500 residents in belting out local favourites

Some 1,500 Ang Mo Kio and Sengkang West residents spent yesterday evening singing popular Xinyao Chinese songs from different eras, with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong joining in the fun, as did members from the Bosses Network, comprising heads of various small and medium enterprises. The medley — which included songs Mr Lee had mentioned during the National Day Rally in August — was led by renowned local composer Lee Wei Song. The event was organised by the People’s Association. The PAssionArts Singing Festival will run until next Sunday. Photo: Ooi Boon Keong
