PM Lee to make official visit to Myanmar
SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will make an official visit to Myanmar from June 7 to 9 June, his first since the new government in Naypyidaw was sworn in just over two months ago.

SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will make an official visit to Myanmar from June 7 to 9 June, his first since the new government in Naypyidaw was sworn in just over two months ago.
The visit also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Myanmar, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Monday. Mr Lee last visited Myanmar in November 2014 for the 25th Asean Summit in Naypyidaw.
During his upcoming visit, Mr Lee will reaffirm Singapore’s long-standing ties with Myanmar, as well as to underscore Singapore’s commitment to support Myanmar’s development.
In Naypyidaw, Mr Lee will meet with Myanmar’s President Htin Kyaw. Mr Lee will also meet State Counsellor and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs Aung San Suu Kyi; the Speaker of the Lower House Win Myint, Speaker of the Union Parliament and Upper House, Mahn Win Khaing Than; the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing; and Chairman of Union Solidarity and Development Party, and former President, Thein Sein.
After Naypyidaw, Mr Lee will travel to Yangon, where he will officiate at the launch of the Singapore-Myanmar Vocational Training Institute and attend a reception with Singaporeans.
Mr Lee will be accompanied on this visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Acting Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Senior Minister of State for Defence Ong Ye Kung, Senior Minister of State for Finance and Law Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office and for Foreign Affairs and Transport Josephine Teo, as well as other Members of Parliament and senior officials.
Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be the acting Prime Minister in Mr Lee’s absence.
