SINGAPORE — The police are looking into a viral video depicting several teenage boys throwing punches and kicking at each other at a basketball court in Boon Keng.

In response to queries on Monday (Jan 16), the Singapore Police Force said that a report has been made and they are looking into the matter.

A 52-second video clip of the incident was uploaded by Facebook page Fabrications about Singapore on Sunday and it has been viewed more than 6,800 times.

The captions identified the location as Boon Keng. An online search showed that the basketball court is near Kallang Community Club.

In the video, at least nine people are seen brawling with one another at the basketball court while shouting vulgarities.

In what appeared to be a free-for-all, several fights between different pairs of boys could be seen occurring one after another, while a few boys were also filmed watching the brawl unfold.

In one fight, a boy wearing a black shirt falls after he was pushed by another youth, who then punches and pins him to the ground. A different boy kicks him in the head before walking off.

Later on, several teenagers could be seen ganging up on another boy who was down by kicking him while the boy lay on the floor.

It was not clear from the footage if any of the boys were targeting any one person.

This recording is the latest of various viral videos depicting youth brawling in public areas in recent times.

Last August, three 15-year-old teenagers were arrested after a video of them beating up a teenage girl at a multi-storey car park along Compassvale Link in Sengkang gained traction online.

One group of schoolgirls had disciplinary action taken against them after their fight at a multi-storey car park went viral in January 2021.

Part of the 30-second clip showed a girl pulling on another’s hair and throwing her to the ground, before she punched and kicked the other girl’s face.
