SINGAPORE — Almost all the animals that were taken into custody by the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) from Platinium Dogs Club have been reunited with their owners, except for a dog and a rabbit.

The canine’s owner is out of the country, while the AVA is still establishing the rabbit’s ownership.

In an update on the ongoing saga, the AVA also said on Wednesday (Jan 9) however, that one of the dogs — Prince, a Shetland sheepdog — which had previously been reported missing from the facility, had died while it was boarded there.

The dog — whose owner had called on netizens to help look for it in a Facebook post which went viral — was then cremated by a pet cremation service provider.

The AVA had taken “temporary custody” of the 18 dogs and a rabbit after the pet boarding house was raided by the authorities to “safeguard their welfare”, the AVA said, and investigations are ongoing.

“The public is advised not to speculate and let the investigation take its course. AVA takes animal welfare seriously and will take enforcement action against any offenders to safeguard animal welfare,” the authority said.

The pet boarding house has been in the news following allegations of animal abuse. The authorities then raided the premises on Dec 29 and Dec 31 last year.

On Jan 2, a group of dog owners, including the owner of the Shetland sheepdog, were involved in a stand-off with the woman who was reportedly the owner of the pet boarding house.

Media reports said that while the woman and a male driver were trying to get away from the group, they allegedly knocked down a man, who had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Earlier reports alleged that a woman named Charlotte Liew is the operator of Platinium Dogs Club. However, there are no records of the pet boarding house on the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority's website.

The operator was arrested on Sunday by the AVA and is assisting with investigations on animal welfare-related offences.
