Pang died on Wednesday after sustaining serious injuries following an accident on Jan 19 while on reservist duty.
During a military exercise at the Waiouru Training Area in New Zealand, he was crushed between the gun barrel of a howitzer and its cabin after he was "unable to get out of the way" as the barrel was lowered. Pang was an armament technician from the 268th Battalion Singapore Artillery.
Earlier on Friday, NoonTalk posted a message that said Pang’s body was on the way back from Auckland.
Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen had said on Thursday that the Republic of Singapore Air Force's KC-135 had been sent to New Zealand to repatriate Pang's body.
