SINGAPORE — Rainy days are expected to continue this month, with thundery showers expected in the afternoon on most days, even occasionally extending to the evening, in the first week of March.

Relatively drier conditions are forecast in the second week, with shorter duration thundery showers expected in the late afternoons over certain parts of Singapore on some days, the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said in a weather update.

The daily temperature over the first two weeks of March is expected to range between 24°C and 33°C, but may reach 34°C on a few days.

The total rainfall for this period is forecast to go above average for most parts of Singapore.

The forecast for March comes after two weeks of generally dry conditions until Feb 28, when continuous thundery showers resulted in more than 100mm of rainfall recorded.

The eastern and southern parts of Singapore saw the heaviest rainfall that day, with the highest daily total of 225.5mm recorded in Kallang.

This exceeded the previous record of 159.3mm on Feb 4, 1995, making it the wettest day recorded in February.

In February, the daily maximum temperature was below 33°C on most days. The highest daily maximum temperature of 34.2°C was recorded in Ang Mo Kio on Feb 10, 2023, while the lowest daily minimum temperature of 21.3°C was recorded in Jurong on Feb 15, 2023.
