SINGAPORE — The revised registers of electors have been certified and are now open for public inspection, said the Elections Department (ELD) on Monday (July 31)
The move comes as Singapore gets ready for a presidential election in September, which is reserved for the Malay community, and has a tightened criteria for candidacy.
The revised registers contain the names of all qualified electors as of June 1 this year. There are a total of 2,515,322 electors in the registers.
To be registered to vote, one must be a Singapore citizen and at least 21 years-old as at June 1, and not disqualified as an elector under any written law. He or she must also have a Singapore residential address on his NRIC as of June 1.
Singaporeans can check their particulars in the registers via the ELD website, or at community centres and clubs, at Singapore overseas missions that serve as overseas registration centres, and at the ELD with their identity card or passport.
