SINGAPORE — A robber fled with S$100,000 worth of jewellery from a neighbourhood shop in Ang Mo Kio on Wednesday (Aug 14), the police said.
The police said in a statement that they were alerted at about 4.10pm to a case of robbery at Hock Cheong Jade and Jewellery — a shop at Blk 574 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10.
“Police preliminary investigations reveal that a male suspect entered the jewellery shop at about 4pm,” the statement added.
“He jumped over the counter and grabbed jewelleries which amounted to about S$100,000, before he fled.”
No weapon was used and no one was injured, the police said.
The male suspect was wearing a black helmet, blue jacket, a pair of black pants and carrying a black bag.
Police investigations are ongoing.
When TODAY arrived at the scene of the crime on Wednesday at around 7pm, the police were still there and a large area surrounding the jewellery shop and neighbouring shops had been cordoned off.
When approached, the jewellery shop owners declined to speak to the media.
