SINGAPORE — Dick Lee, Rahimah Rahim, Shabir, Taufik Batisah and a host of Mediacorp artistes will be singing National Day favourite Home this Saturday (April 25), and everyone in Singapore is invited to take part in a nationwide singalong.
The artistes’ rendition will appear in a music video available across Mediacorp platforms on meWATCH, meLISTEN, TV channels, radio stations and social media pages on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. It will also be on SPH Radio, Camokakis radio stations and Gov.sg Facebook page.
People at home are encouraged to join in, and to take and upload on social media a video of themselves singing the song. If selected, they will appear in a special music video to be shown at 10.30pm on the same day.
Mediacorp said in a press release that the objective of the singalong session is intended to “rally everyone in Singapore in expressing our thanks and appreciation to our frontline workers and migrant workers”.
“It also aims to encourage all Singaporeans to keep their spirits high, and in the spirit of 'Singapore Together' continue to stay united as everyone stays home during this extended circuit breaker period,” Mediacorp said.
On March 30, there was a campaign to get the public to show their appreciation for workers who are at the frontlines of the fight against Covid-19. The Clap For #SGUnited event, initiated by by British expatriate Martin Verga — who works in finance and has been in Singapore for a decade — called for people to clap their hands from the windows and balconies of their homes at 8pm that night.
