SINGAPORE — The Singapore Flyer will resume operations on Friday (April 15) after receiving approval from the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), its operator said on Thursday.
It had suspended operations as a precautionary measure following the detection of a technical issue during a routine maintenance inspection in January this year.
In a statement on Thursday, operator Straco Leisure said that it has received approval from the BCA for the resumption of the attraction after all safety checks and tests were completed and cleared by the authority.
The Singapore Flyer and Time Capsule, a nearby attraction looking at Singapore's past, present and future, will open from Thursday to Sunday and on public holidays, from 3pm to 10pm, added the operator.
The latest opening schedule can be found on the Singapore Flyer’s official website.
Guests with existing bookings for visits to the Singapore Flyer before April 15, 2022 can rebook their visiting date online at www.singaporeflyer.com.
The Singapore Flyer has suffered several breakdowns and closures since its launch in 2008.
It suspended operations for slightly over two months in 2018 due to a faulty part belonging to the mechanism at the foot of the wheel which allows it to rotate.
In 2019, the attraction was closed from November till March 2020 after its maintenance team detected a technical issue with a spoke cable that support the rim of the Flyer.
