SINGAPORE – The Singapore Management University (SMU) has appointed a new dean, Professor Gerard George, for its business school.

Presently the Deputy-Dean at Imperial College of Business School, Prof George will begin his five-year term at SMU Lee Kong Chian School of Business from Jan 1 next year.

Speaking at the press conference held today (Sept 9), Prof George said he wanted to increase the “global visibility” of the school, strengthening their links with the industry, government and the region.

“We can deliver on this promise only by remaining entrepreneurial and nimble in an increasingly crowded market, that’s where I see my skills as creating the most value,” he added.

The school’s outgoing dean, Prof Howard Thomas, will stay on with SMU as a distinguished professor of Strategic Management and Management Education.
