SINGAPORE — Transport operator SMRT today (Jan 3) clarified that the group of foreign workers that were photographed on STOMP were not sleeping within the closed compound of the station.
The photograph — which has gone viral on social media — surfaced on the citizen journalism website yesterday and showed a group of six foreign workers sprawled on the floor at Bugis MRT station at 4am.
Responding to media queries, SMRT’s director for media and marketing communications Alina Boey said, “These members of the public were sleeping beyond the closed compound of the station after operation hours.”
“We have commenced our investigations on this matter, and will be reviewing our procedures, where necessary, with regards to this incident,” she added.
