Social Service Office in Taman Jurong opens

SINGAPORE — The Taman Jurong Social Service Office (SSO), which provides social assistance to needy families, was officially launched this morning (Dec 15).

SINGAPORE — The Taman Jurong Social Service Office (SSO), which provides social assistance to needy families, was officially launched this morning (Dec 15).

Located next to the Taman Jurong Community Club, the Taman Jurong SSO is the second SSO in Jurong West. It first started operations on Nov 2, and has seen about 170 cases.

It is also the 24th and final SSO to complete the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s (MSF) island-wide help network.

The two-storey building is integrated with Fei Yue Family Service Centre.

At the event, Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin stressed that the MSF will be working to improve the SSO’s delivery of services and make the entire process of as seamless as possible. The physical network is already in place, and it is now about expanding the reach, he added.

The opening was attended by 70 community partners from VWOs, grassroots organisations, schools and government agencies.
